Description

Best Shepherd’s Pie is a comfort food favorite made with savory meat, vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes. It’s a perfect hearty meal for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Boil the cubed potatoes until tender, then mash with butter, cream, salt, and pepper.
  2. Brown the beef or lamb, then add onions, carrots, and peas. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and beef broth. Simmer until vegetables are tender.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish, then top with mashed potatoes and cheese.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.

Notes

For a healthier version, swap mashed cauliflower for potatoes or add more vegetables like parsnips or corn.
