Description
This Buttery Apple Crisp That Melts in Your Mouth is pure dessert comfort — tender cinnamon apples baked with a rich golden topping that’s so buttery it almost dissolves on your tongue.
Ingredients
6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or mix), peeled, cored, and sliced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for filling)
1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 2 tablespoons flour until evenly coated.
3. In a separate bowl, combine oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon for the topping.
4. Pour melted butter over the topping mixture and stir gently until crumbs form.
5. Spread apples evenly in the prepared baking dish.
6. Sprinkle the buttery oat topping evenly over the apples, covering them completely.
7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apples are tender and bubbling.
8. Cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
For a crisper top, bake an extra 5–7 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup chopped pecans to the topping for extra crunch.
