Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 4 pita bread or flatbreads
  • Fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, etc.)
  • Sauce (tahini or garlic yogurt sauce)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, cayenne, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and yogurt to create the marinade.
  • Add chicken to the marinade, tossing to coat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
  • Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill or cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • Slice the chicken into thin strips and serve in pita bread with fresh vegetables and sauce.
