Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, boneless and skinless
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp plain yogurt
- 4 pita bread or flatbreads
- Fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, etc.)
- Sauce (tahini or garlic yogurt sauce)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, cayenne, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and yogurt to create the marinade.
- Add chicken to the marinade, tossing to coat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Grill or cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Slice the chicken into thin strips and serve in pita bread with fresh vegetables and sauce.
