Ingredients
- 6 cups of day-old bread, cut into cubes
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- Optional: whipped cream or ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Spread the bread cubes evenly in the dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, making sure to soak them evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Optionally, serve with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.
Notes
- Make sure to use slightly stale bread for better texture.
