Description
This crowd-favorite apple crisp brings crispy oat topping and gooey cinnamon-spiced apples together in every bite. A classic fall dessert done right.
Ingredients
6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1 tbsp lemon juice
Pinch of salt
— Crispy Topping —
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
2. Mix sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, lemon juice, and salt. Toss apples in the mixture. Let sit 5 minutes.
3. In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add cold butter and mix into coarse crumbs.
4. Spread apples in dish. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples.
5. Bake 40–45 minutes until topping is golden and apples are bubbly.
6. Cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Best served warm with ice cream.
Notes
Use mixed apples for more flavor depth.
Add nuts or berries to topping for variety.
Store leftovers in fridge and reheat as needed.
