Description
This hearty ground beef chili is bold, meaty, and made for cozy nights. Loaded with classic spices, beans, and tomatoes—ready in under an hour.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2–3 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (14 oz) kidney or pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup beef broth
Salt and pepper, to taste
— Optional Add-ins —
1 tsp cocoa powder or cinnamon
1 chopped jalapeño or dash of hot sauce
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper or corn
Instructions
1. Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Add beef and onions. Cook until beef browns and onions soften.
2. Add garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir for 30 seconds.
3. Pour in diced tomatoes, beans, and beef broth. Stir and scrape any brown bits from the pot.
4. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
6. Serve hot with cheese, green onions, or sour cream.
Notes
Great with cornbread or served over rice.
Freezes well up to 3 months.
