Ingredients
- 4 chicken pieces (drumsticks or breasts)
- 1 cup buttermilk (or egg wash)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Carefully lower the chicken into the hot oil and fry for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until it becomes golden and crispy.
- Season the chicken lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix the flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Dip each chicken piece into the buttermilk or egg wash, then coat it in the seasoned flour mixture.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the chicken and place it on a rack to drain excess oil and keep the crispiness intact.
- Serve immediately and enjoy with your favorite sides.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can double dip the chicken by repeating the flour coating after dipping it in the buttermilk.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the chicken to prevent it from becoming soggy.
- For a spicier version, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add hot sauce to the buttermilk mixture.
