Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (14 oz) kidney, black, or pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup beef or chicken broth (or water)
Salt and pepper to taste

1 jalapeño, diced
1 tbsp tomato paste
Pinch of brown sugar
Instructions
1. Heat a pot over medium-high heat. Brown beef and onion until fully cooked.
2. Stir in garlic. Cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
4. Mix in tomatoes, beans, broth, and tomato paste if using. Stir well.
5. Simmer for 15–20 minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally.
6. Taste, adjust seasoning, and serve hot with toppings.
Notes
Use any canned beans you prefer.
Add lime juice or vinegar at the end for brightness.
Freezes well for up to 3 months.
