Description

This Ronzoni Lasagna recipe is a family favorite made with hearty layers of tender Ronzoni pasta, savory meat sauce, and creamy cheese. Perfect for gatherings or a comforting weeknight dinner, it’s a classic dish that never fails to impress.


Ingredients

For the Sauce:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Ricotta Mixture:

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For Assembly:

  • 9–12 sheets Ronzoni lasagna noodles (pre-cooked)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Make the Meat Sauce:
    In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Add onion and garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. Prepare Ricotta Mixture:
    In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Stir until just combined. Set aside.

  3. Preheat Oven & Prepare Dish:
    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  4. Layer the Lasagna:

    • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom.

    • Place a layer of Ronzoni lasagna noodles.

    • Spread half the ricotta mixture over noodles.

    • Sprinkle with half the mozzarella.

    • Repeat layers: sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella.

    • Finish with remaining sauce and top with Parmesan cheese.

  5. Bake:
    Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

  6. Rest and Serve:
    Let the lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey, or sautéed vegetables for a variation.
  • Make ahead: Assemble and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • For a crispier top, broil the lasagna for 2–3 minutes after baking—watch closely to avoid burning.
