Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 8 oz button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (for searing)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Mix gently to avoid dense patties.

  • Shape the mixture into equal-sized patties about 3/4 inch thick.

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced mushrooms until golden and soft.

  • Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir to coat evenly. Cook for 1 minute.

  • Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Simmer until thickened.

  • Return patties to skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer for 5-7 minutes until patties are cooked through.

  • Serve hot with mushroom gravy.
