Description

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80% lean)

1 large egg, beaten

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup milk

1/2 cup finely diced onion

1 clove garlic, minced (optional)

1/3 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)

1 tbsp fresh parsley or thyme (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Line a loaf pan with foil or lightly grease it.

3. In a large bowl, mix beef, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper.

4. Do not overmix—just until combined.

5. Shape into a loaf and place in the prepared pan.

6. Spread ketchup evenly on top.

7. Bake for 30 minutes.

8. Brush with more ketchup and bake another 15–20 minutes, or until internal temp reaches 160°F.

9. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
